Diversified Financial Services were finding existing business planning software too limiting for a large project they were working on, so they called us in to produce a bespoke business planning tool.
We were also requested to reduce potential errors with error capture and prevention techniques.

The Client
A company that specialises in finding funding for large start up corporations in the USA.
The Problem
One of Diversified Financial Services clients was looking to raise funds for a new medical equipment sales and rental business spanning the US. However their potential funders wanted to run a wide range of complex “What If” analysis scenarios through their business plans (different sales patterns, different rental patterns, seasonal impacts etc).
They quickly discovered that no “off the shelf” solutions were flexible enough for what they needed. Initially they started to develop a spreadsheet in house to do this but it quickly became overly large (85Mb). This of course was very slow, prone to crashing and impossible to email out to clients.
The Solution
Using their spreadsheet as guidance we worked closely with DFS to develop a tool that allowed the user to enter a wide range of variables to produce an almost infinite number of scenarios to run through the business plan.
The file size was reduced to just over 500kb and now only takes a couple of seconds to process rather than minutes at a time.
The Result
DFS’s client is currently in negotiation with the potential funders (hence lack of detail here) and as a result the spreadsheet is currently in daily use.
